The primary sources for curriculum at The Village are Read,Play, and Learn! and The Creative Curriculum. Both are research-based with a strong emphasis on developmentally appropriate practice.

Read, Play, and Learn! uses children’s literature as a framework for providing stimulating learning experiences and skill development across all the developmental domains (social-emotional, physical, language, and cognitive). Educational outcomes are reached while children select and carry out activities that are fun and motivating to them. This curriculum provides classroom staff with many ideas for individualizing instruction based on the needs of each child.

The Creative Curriculum provides the structure for developing a strong learning environment, with interest areas designed to enhance learning and teaching. It also provides us with the 50 curriculum goals and objectives in the form of the Developmental Continuum which teachers use to guide and assess children’s learning. Teaching Strategies:  Creative Curriculum

The Village believes social-emotional development to be essential during the preschool years. To address this need, each Village classroom also incorporates components of one or more of the following social-emotional curricula in their weekly classroom schedule: Second Step, Dinosaur School, or LEAP. Teachers use a variety of materials - books, puppets, pictures, and role play – to help children develop positive social interactions, learn how to resolve conflicts and problems independently and be able to identify and manage their feelings appropriately.
